Today I was reminiscing about my early years (once again..) and decided to make one of my all-time favorite things – Russian pancakes. It was actually really easy and very yummy so I share the recipe here with you.
Russian Pancakes (Aладушки)
- 2 eggs
- Salt – 0.25 tsp
- Baking soda – 0.5 tsp
- Sugar – 1 tbsp
- Buttermilk (or Russian Kefir) – 0.5 cup
- Flour – 1.5 cups
- Optional: Sour Cream – 2 tbsp
Mix the eggs with the sugar. Then add the butter milk and mix (sour cream as well if using it). Combine the salt, flour and baking soda and add them to the mix. The texture should be kind of like a Greek yogurt texture when it’s ready. Then heat up the frying pan and pour small circles and fry on both sides. Serve with honey, jam or any other favorite toppings. You can also add chopped apples or craisins to the pancakes when you fry them.
I didn’t take a photo but the end result looked more or less like this:

Wowww…that’s really cool! As a unemployed housewife i think this is a good task for a Friday! Did you eat them with that strawberry thing? I can only think of adding nutella to it….
I ate them with honey. Also sour cream is good. But that’s a Russian thing..
